Title: Cook Helper
Reports To: Director of Food Service
Division of: Teamsters – Division II – Hot Lunch
Employment Status: Regular School Year
General Description:
2 Hour position at EUE 10:20 am-12:20pm
Helps in lunch preparation, assists in serving food at lunch time, and helps with clean-up duties
Qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older and have earned a high school diploma or equivalent
- Experience in the preparation of school lunches
- Good health, high moral character and good attendance record
- Be clean and neat
- Must be certified in approved Food Safety and Sanitation class to move within the division
- Have the ability to organize and carry out lunchroom procedures
- Professional tact, diplomacy and presentation with administrators, staff, teachers, students, parents and the community.
Essential Functions:
- Carefully follows all directions given by the Director of Hot Lunch
- Helps in preparation of lunches
- Assists in serving lunches
- Keeps serving areas stocked with proper supplies
- Keeps dishes and silverware in proper place
- Cleans lunch and equipment tables
- Cleans all equipment following the lunch period
- Set up tables, counters, etc.
- Collect money and make change when necessary
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
2. Help to instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
3. Perform other duties related to the server/helper’s duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service, Principal, Superintendent of Schools and/or any designee
Additional Working Conditions:
1. Occasional exposure of blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
2. Occasional interaction among unruly children
Miscellaneous:
- May be required to drive his/her personal vehicle and provide his/her own transportation within the district, as well as to job-related functions outside the district
- May come in contact with blood-borne pathogens in the course of fulfilling responsibilities of this position
- The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the district
- Is responsible for any and all other duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor or Superintendent
