Responsible To: The Superintendent Working Hours: 7:30a.m.-3:30p.m.

Length Of Contract Year:    261 Days/Year, 8 Hours/Day. Monday-Friday

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Bachelor's degree in technology or administration with a technology background is preferred.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a teacher or consultant is desired. Effective oral and written communication skills are expected.
  3. Strong background in current instructional technology applications, including data, voice, and video technology.
  4. The employee must demonstrate the ability to coordinate and delegate responsibility while recognizing the need for teamwork. The employee must also exercise good judgment and make decisions in accordance with board policies and established administrative operating procedures.
  5. Prior supervisory responsibility is desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 Technical Skills

  1. Plan and direct the purchase, installation, maintenance, and repair of the district’s educational technology equipment, including but not limited to the fiber optic WAN, security cameras, building access control systems, conference and classroom technology, and building networks. 
  2. Coordinate cyber security programs, including end/user monitoring and training. 
  3. Monitor and ensure the security and confidentiality of the district's technology infrastructure.
  4. Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, install computer software and coordinate repairs and maintenance of all hardware and peripherals, including but not limited to student information systems (currently PowerSchool), financial software (currently SDS), emergency communications (currently RAVE and School Messenger). 
  5. Communicate with hardware and software vendors to resolve operational problems.
  6. Supervise AV support for meetings, workshops, and district events. 
  7. Maintain an inventory of district-wide technology equipment and software, working with the administrative team to plan for updates/upgrades.
  8. Ensure compliance with copyright laws, board policies, and security protocols for technology use.
  9. Oversee technology-related grants and projects, including seeking funding through state, federal, and foundation grants.
  10. Develop and coordinate policies and procedures for the district website and social media communication tools. 
  11. Collaborate with administration and secretarial staff to maintain and update the district website. 
  12. Supervise the activities of technology staff, including the network engineer and computer technicians. 
  13. Collaborate with the Business Manager and Superintendent to develop budget allocations for the technology department.
  14. Serve as the district’s liaison with external technology partners such as METL, REMC, MERIT, MAISA, and the local district technology directors.

  Instructional Leadership

  1. Coordinate professional development, training, and in-class support on integrating technology into educational practices for LEA and DSISD staff.
  2. Facilitate the implementation of technology-focused staff development programs aligned with strategic goals.
  3. Collaborate with administrators and instructional staff to ensure technology aligns with instructional goals and enhances student learning.
  4. Lead and organize district and regional technology committees to support collaborative planning and technology initiatives.
  5. Conduct annual reviews of the district technology plan and assist in long-term technology planning for DSISD and local school districts.
  6. Facilitate needs assessments to determine technology requirements for DSISD and associated local districts.
  7. Attend monthly school board meetings, superintendent roundtable, and other district meetings as needed. 
  8. Coordinate regional activities utilizing distance learning technologies.
  9. Develop and maintain community linkages with higher education institutions, local agencies, businesses, and other organizations to identify technology-related resources and partnerships.
  10. Support ISD personnel with setting up and maintaining assistive technology (AT) for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). 
  11. Implements assistive technology assessment procedures and device protocols and maintains an inventory of assistive technology lending library devices and local agreements within DSISD.
  12. All other duties as assigned by the superintendent. 

 Communication Skills

  The employee must possess the ability to:

  1. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  
  2. Write routine reports and correspondence, including electronic mail, using typing/keyboarding skills and good grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  3. Speak effectively before staff committees or groups.
  4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff.  

  Miscellaneous

  The employee:

  1. May be required to provide their own transportation within the district as well as for job-related functions outside the district.
  2. May come in contact with blood-borne pathogens in the course of fulfilling the responsibilities of the position.
  3. Shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout their employment with the district.
