Athletic Director / Elementary Specials Teacher: Full-Time (50/50 Split Assignment)

Position Summary: Bark River-Harris School District is seeking a dynamic, energetic individual to serve in a dual role as Athletic Director and Elementary Specials Teacher. This unique position requires strong organizational and leadership skills combined with a genuine passion for working with K-12 students.

Athletic Director Responsibilities (50%):

• Coordinate and oversee all district athletic programs and events
• Supervise and evaluate coaches across all sports
• Manage athletic budgets, schedules, and facility use
• Ensure compliance with MHSAA rules and regulations
• Serve as primary liaison between coaches, administration, and community

Elementary Specials Teacher Responsibilities (50%):

• Deliver engaging instruction in assigned specials area (P.E., Art, Music, or similar)
• Develop age-appropriate curriculum aligned with state standards
• Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student development
• Monitor and assess student progress

Qualifications:

• Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
• Administrative or athletic director endorsement preferred
• Experience in coaching or athletic administration preferred
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively

Terms of Employment: Full-time, school year position (teacher).  Some summer work required as the Athletic Director Salary and benefits per district compensation schedule.
