Athletic Director / Elementary Specials Teacher: Full-Time (50/50 Split Assignment)
Position Summary: Bark River-Harris School District is seeking a dynamic, energetic individual to serve in a dual role as Athletic Director and Elementary Specials Teacher. This unique position requires strong organizational and leadership skills combined with a genuine passion for working with K-12 students.
Athletic Director Responsibilities (50%):
- Coordinate and oversee all district athletic programs and events
- Supervise and evaluate coaches across all sports
- Manage athletic budgets, schedules, and facility use
- Ensure compliance with MHSAA rules and regulations
- Serve as primary liaison between coaches, administration, and community
Elementary Specials Teacher Responsibilities (50%):
- Deliver engaging instruction in assigned specials area (P.E., Art, Music, or similar)
- Develop age-appropriate curriculum aligned with state standards
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student development
- Monitor and assess student progress
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
- Administrative or athletic director endorsement preferred
- Experience in coaching or athletic administration preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Terms of Employment: Full-time, school year position (teacher). Some summer work required as the Athletic Director Salary and benefits per district compensation schedule.
